NJ EAST CENTRAL SOUTH SECTION
Royal Rangers Roundtable
October 2, 2017
Opening Prayer – Peter Frentz
Devotion – Dave Ruthenbeck
Who are we listening to? Where are we spiritually? Handed out a Healthy Leader Assessment.
Sectional Leaders Report – John Fudalik
- May be able to go to a regional meeting in Harrisburg, but it’s the same weekend as our training.
- Any ideas to get more commanders to meetings?
- Try every month Jan – June, then every other month from June – December?
- Dinner meeting?
- Rhoda: contact Tom Buck RE: Sectional FB page
Deputy Commanders Report – Aaron Biernacki
- Aaron has patches for Jeff’s church and Calvary. Rhoda will take Calvary’s to the church office.
- Rhoda: look up how much it would cost to get njecsrr.org email addresses.
- 2018 Sectional PowWow – consider where we want to hold it. Possibilities: Wall, Parade Field at Fort Monmouth, Calvary, Turkey Swamp (limited in size…we’ve probably outgrown it), Allaire. We need to make a decision by December if we need to make reservations at a state park. If we have it at a church, we need to calculate costs (porta potties, donation to church, etc.) We also need to do something about churches who say they’re coming and then don’t show up. Do we want to consider other options? Go farther? Worthington State Park
- Rhoda – contact Keswick – availability, pricing, what’s included – ask about 1st/2nd week of June. Friday & Saturday overnight. Approx. 150-200. Cost for those who don’t stay overnight and come only for the day (Saturday)? Is there a large field for activities? $20/person for 2 nights, but they can’t accommodate that many people.
- Theme – maybe go more towards a skill-based PowWow. “Winter Day in June”
District PowWow – Aaron Biernacki
- Nice weekend. Good pageant. Only downfall: having to carry everything.
- It looked nice on paper, but for 35 outposts, but only 5-6 activities. Fishing was at the same time as everything else. Too much open time for the kids…not enough planned events to keep 300+ kids busy.
Chartering – Al Barber
- We’re in chartering phase. As of now, the district has 18 outposts chartered.
- Our section: Outposts 30, 35, 44, 159 (2 leaders; 14 Rangers) have chartered
Training – Al Barber
- District Roundtable to be held at Capital A/G on Oct 20th has been canceled.
- Oct 21 – Ranger Basics course at Capital A/G; register on district website.
- Looking at offering a sectional course on 2 Monday nights using our sectional certified trainers
- Empower 18 – March 16-17 in Harrisburg
FCF – John Fudalik
- Territorial Rendezvous – this weekend in Honey Grove, PA (registrations already due)
- National Rendezvous – July 16-20 at Camp Eagle Rock
Camporama – 2020
NJRRAA Update – John Fudalik
- Smaller group this year, but it went well. Start talking it up in your outposts.
- Solar eclipse day kind of messed up the activities. Eclipse glasses were provided to the campers.
Miscellaneous/Open discussion
Finances:
Starting Balance $4,466.32
PowWow speaker 150.00
Ending Balance $4,316.32
$105 RK Field Day supplies check hasn’t cleared yet.
Next Roundtable meeting:
- Date: Nov. 13 – It is important for every outpost to be at the meeting in order to provide input…if you don’t come, you can’t complain about decisions that are made in your absence.
- Location: Ask Steve if we can have it at GAP, or Joe for Calvary. Need to talk about Derby. Derby location needs to be decided. (Remember Empower in mid-March).
Closing prayer – Al Barber
