Prayer

Devotion: Tom B. – video devotion: Francis Chan – “God’s Thoughts are not our Thoughts”

The boys are going through things that we have never had to face, and when they come to us and are confused, we need to remind them that our thoughts and ideas are not God’s thoughts. Sometimes the Holy Spirit puts thoughts in us, but they need to be backed up and confirmed by God’s Word.

Commanders Report: John F.

  • Need to update staff positions; Especially needs Deputy Sectional Commander.
  • Thinking ABOUT THE POTTER AND THE CLAY as theme for Powwow. We need to allow God to mold us and we need to mold the boys. THEME: Jeremiah 18 – the Potter and the Clay molding the boys to become Christian men.

Chartering: Al B.

  • No changes
  • 162 has fallen off the list. Tom Buck will reach out to them.
  • Jeff said he’ll take care of chartering.
  • Potential Rangers Outpost in New Egypt (CMA church). GAP possible sponsor.

Training: Al B.

  • No training currently scheduled in the area. NRMC – FL, WI; WCO – VA
  • Many training courses are online; tests are open book. 

Ranger Derby: Rafael V. (not at meeting)

  • Race final update?
  • Patches status?  Will probably be using a variation of the patch that Outpost 118 used.
  • Suggestion: Outposts should have Ranger Derby classes before the derby to teach how to make the cars.
  • For next year, possibly have the derby at GAP in the Youth Center, but can stream the video to upstairs. Would need monitors for the stairways.
  • Should discuss track maintenance.

Powwow

  • Potter & Clay Theme – event with modeling clay. Sculpt something…each outpost needs to make something.
  • Events: Skills; including instruction, but easy to instruct. Teach in the morning; have competitions in afternoon. Each outpost would be responsible for a different skill.
  1. Knots: pick 2 knots to teach; different for each group.
  2. Fishing with washers on the end of the line; teach how to cast.
  3. Peter – come up with ideas for RK; let John know if there’s anything they need to buy for the RK event.
