Opening Prayer – Steve Martin

Devotion – Tom Buck

God equips us, then moves us into places where we can put the things we’ve learned into action.  Observation: There is a huge lack of humility in leadership. Ps. 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart… Take time to be in the presence of God asking Him to search our hearts…is there anything that would prevent me to be the leader that You’ve called me to be? The enemy uses pride as a tool, and sometimes people don’t realize they’re being prideful, but their motives and actions become tainted with pride. Our responsibility is to mentor young boys and men…are we equipped to handle the things that are coming our way? We need to know how to minister to those that God sends to us.

Pow Wow – May 31-June 2.

Pow Wow – Events brainstorming:

Olympic Theme –

  • Basketball event – team event with 3 players: free throw, layup, 3-pointer. Timed event; maximum time limit based on group. Modify distance for younger groups.
  • Cross country cycling – bring 1 bike and helmets per 4-person team. Timed event. After event, bikes get put away. Decorate for outpost. Best decorated bike contest.
  • Discus / Frisbee throw – add distances to get total.
  • Discus/shot put/javelin/long jump relay
  • Gaga ball?

Use junior leaders to run events.

Pre-commitment request – $50 refundable deposit?

District Youth game – “Iron Guts” – disgusting foods… Spaghetti with various “blind” toppings (Ben, Jesse youth group)

Ask outpost dads to man the events. Invite them to the May meeting to plan; this gives them a month to prepare.

Morning: RK only fishing, other boys – events

Afternoon: free time to go to the park, go fishing*, otherwise volleyball or basketball tournaments to give boys something to do. *take picture with fish & tape measure; give award for largest fish (afternoon isn’t prime fishing time)

Scavenger Hunt – list of natural objects

Hide 3 golden nuggets around the camp. Write down compass coordinates of where they are found.

Need worship team for council fire Saturday night. Tom will ask youth worship team at Monmouth. Invite Pastor Jeff from Freehold to observe the Pow Wow.

Ranger Derby – Steve Martin

Aaron – maybe do only 3 heats; have lunch break, then give out trophies…we were losing the attention of the kids.

Idea: bounce house in youth room; livestream derby down there.

Update rules regarding DNF

Idea: make booklet with previous year’s race results data; have place for parents to write in this year’s results

Sponsorships? Logos in pit road; drawings for donated gift cards

Need to keep kids farther away from the tables holding the cars. Suggestions: Plexiglass? Tape farther away from the table…4’. John has extra cones.
