2019 POTLUCK KICKOFF

Opening Prayer – Joe Schroepfer

Devotion – Bob Bell

With the last few devotions, God’s been taking us on a journey. Sept – Tom Buck talked about how the boys should see us growing in the Lord and in the Holy Spirit. We need to BE good, not just LOOK good. Oct – Scott Adams – it’s much easier to read about God’s love than to show God’s love. How do we do that?

Rev. – John reveals the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Ch. 2, 3 we see characteristics of leadership that we need to develop. For each of the 7 churches, Jesus commends, condemns, challenges, provides counsel. Smyrna, Philadelphia, Sardis not condemned. Rev. 2 Ephesus Challenge given to all 7 churches: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. This is a word to us. We have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying to us individually and as a group.

Leadership characteristics: 1. Commend, 2. Gently condemn, 3. Challenge, 4. Counsel
We can do this with the boys in our outposts.

Gives us a plan to evaluate our lives…look at how Jesus talked about the 7 churches in Revelation. Where do we fit? Where do we need to improve?  Jesus speaks directly to each church…they are all important to Him. We are also important/a priority to Him, and should also be to ourselves. Rev. 2:16 Repent…or I will come against you with the sword of my mouth …. Rev. 3:16 because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Lukewarm = lazy.

Re-read Rev. 2, 3 at home. We’ll see how to BE good, not just LOOK good.

Contacted several possible places for the PowWow. Pine Tree (down by Tabernacle) didn’t return his call. Nomoco at Turkey Swamp $206 more than Allaire. John will try to get Turkey Swamp.

• Memorial service this past Saturday for Bob “Grizzly” Adams
